Died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in the loving care of his youngest daughter in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born William David McAninch II on July 30, 1923 in Highland Park, Michigan.

Bill had a long and adventurous life, visiting every state (except ND and AK) and working as a grocery delivery boy, gas station attendant, hod carrier, steel man on a Ford Motor assembly line, camp counselor, camp athletic director, manager of youth baseball team, celestial navigational instructor (in the USAAF during WWII), water safety instructor, waiter, math tutor, Psychologist, teacher of statistics, guest lecturer at MSU and U of M, Personnel Analyst, Industrial Relations manager (Ford Venezuela), Assistant Industrial Relations manager (Ford Wixom), Director Compensation and Benefits (Ford Aerospace), School Board member (Nankin Twp, MI), City Commissioner (Plymouth, MI), and a few more (11 full-time jobs, 32 in all).

He was married to the late Beverly Dippel McAninch for 56 years. Bill is survived by his four children, Karen (Steve Markovitz), Dave (Jackie), and Brian (Gayle Gleason) McAninch, and Barb (Matthew) McMullen. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Emily and Amanda Markovitz, Jim Meiers and Joe von Meier, Elena and Moira McAninch, Shaun and Alec McMahon, Maura and Isabelle McMullen; his great-grandchildren, James, Ken and Lucas Meiers; his sister, Ellen McAninch Jefsen; and her daughters, Laurie and Pam; as well as his cousin, (and life-long friend) Bob Lewis.

His memorial service will be April 16 at Noon at the First UU Church in Ann Arbor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ACLU or Wayne State University School of Business Administration because Sam knew Bev would want it.
