Mrs. Helen McAfee Baisi, 93, formerly of the Weaver community and more recently a resident of Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, departed this life at 8:05 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 24, 1917, at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late William and Lena G. Faucett McAfee.
On Nov. 5, 1934, she was united in marriage to Paul Baisi, who preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1985.
She is survived by four sons, John N. Baisi of Buckhannon, Robert K. Baisi and wife, Charlene, of Montrose, Ronald K. Baisi and wife, Brenda, of Philippi and Richard Baisi and wife, Janet, of Kenova; two daughters Betty Hutzler of Beaver Creek and Sandra Hutzell and husband, Roger, of Beverly; one daughter-in-law, Emma Jane Baisi; and 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Paul W. "Buddy" Baisi and an infant son, Anthony; one infant daughter, Carol; two sisters, Bessie Arthur and Thelma McAfee; and four brothers, Robert, Ersel, William and Kenneth McAfee.
She was a Christian homemaker and was a member of Belington Church of the Nazarene, and a devout Christian.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 3, and again on Friday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Philip Lynn Ryder and Pastor Richard Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Gilman.
