Barbara J. Hopkins Craig, 68, Independence, Mo., passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at her home.
Barbara was born June 29, 1937, in Kansas City, Mo., to Arthur W. and Essie V. (Dilday) Maynard. She was employed as a certified nursing assistant at Independence Regional Health Center for many years. She married Aubrey Hopkins Jr. (now deceased) in 1953 and then married Earl F. Craig (also deceased) in 1983. She was a member of Summit Assembly Church, as well as Neighborhood Association No. 5. Barbara was a great cook who enjoyed life and laughter, but most of all she loved her family. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her loyal companion, "Razzi". Her parents, two husbands, one brother, four sisters and a grandson, Bradley J. Hopkins, precede her into heaven.
Barbara is survived by three sons, Dr. Aubrey E. Hopkins and wife, Vicki, of Buckner, Mo., Chris S. Hopkins and wife, Debbie, of Holden, Mo., and Arthur L. Hopkins and wife, Amanda, of Kansas City; one daughter, Lorie D. Barnes and husband, John, of Avon Lake, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at the Mount Washington Forever Mausoleum Chapel, Independence, (816) 252-4141. Burial will follow in Mount Washington Forever Cemetery, Independence. A "Celebration of Life" in honor of Barbara will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Mausoleum. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Summit Assembly Church Building Fund, in care of Summit Assembly, 1050 S.E. Century Drive, Lee's Summit, Mo. 64063.
