Margaret Frances Guckeen, age 88, of Austin, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.
Margaret was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Austin, to Joseph Jr. and Margaret (Moje) Mayer.
In 1936, she was united in marriage to Lawrence "Cye" Guckeen. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1978.
Margaret was a homemaker. She was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, was involved in the Mower County Genealogical Society, and was a member of the Minnesota Historical Society. She enjoyed researching people's family history.
Margaret loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a strong faith in God.
Survivors include two sons: Dick (Julie) Guckeen, Austin; Steve (Joan) Guckeen, Champlin; grandchildren: Amy (Neil) Jennissen, Jeff Guckeen, Renee (Dave) Garrison, Michael (Raquel) Guckeen; eight great-grandchildren; brother: Joseph "Bud" (Gerda) Mayer, Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers.
A funeral mass was celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father John Traufler officiating. There was a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 6:30 p.m. wake service on Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. and also from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
The casket bearers were Jeff Guckeen, Michael Guckeen, Dave Garrison, Neil Jennissen, Matt Jennissen and Clayton Jennissen.
