Our Lord and Savior gently took Erna F. Bierlein in his loving arms on Sunday, October 14, 2012 as she was surrounded by her children. Erna was born on March 11, 1922 to John and Mathilda (Bierlein) Mayer in Denmark Township and lived in the Richville area all her life. She married Ralph Bierlein on June 12, 1948 and they worked together on their farm the remaining years. Erna will be most remembered for the love she gave her entire family, her patience, her strong Christian values, cooking, and all of which she passed on to her next generation. She is survived by her son, Thomas A. Bierlein; daughter, Carol (Kim) Bickel; grandchildren, Ryan (Susan) Bickel, Kristen (John) Swaton, Michael (Christine) Bickel, Jennifer Edwards Bickel; her precious great grandchildren, Dylan, Andrew, Ben, Katie, Beth, Madison; brother John Mayer Jr. and sister Edna Frank and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her loving husband Ralph on July 8, 2006 and other family members; sisters, Florence Hecht, Alma Hecht; brothers, Harold Mayer and Reinhold Mayer. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 from St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville. Rev. Rob Gadeken and Rev. Wes Gillaspie will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Erna's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street, Reese on Wednesday from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
