Gladys May Blank, age 99, a resident of Harriman, passed away Friday, November 13th, 2009, at Harriman Care and Rehab.
Mrs. Blank was born August 2nd, 1910 in the Coalfield Community of Morgan County. She continued to live in Morgan County into early adulthood. Following her marriage, she moved to Roane County where she has continued to live.
Mrs. Blank was of the Baptist faith, a loving and nurturing mother who always wanted the best for her children and family, and whose life was centered around her home. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking for her family, friends and visitors to the Blank home.
Mrs. Blank was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Robert Eugene Blank, by parents William May and Sarah Hammon May, by sons Bobby Lee Blank and Francis Gregory Blank, and by daughters Janet Diane French and Marjorie Kathleen Daugherty, by brothers, Frank May, Ted May, Archie May and Jack May, and sisters, Lucille Roberts and Billie Smith.
Mrs. Blank is survived by three sons; Elden Eugene Blankenbeckler and wife Loretta of Milton, Indiana, William Curtis Blank and Ronald Wayne Blank, both of Harriman, by three daughters; Betty Sue Martin and husband Bill of Clinton, Jo Auchmoody and husband Lew of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Beverly J. Seiber and husband Clayton of Harriman, by 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Caris Hospice and Harriman Care and Rehab and all of their staff for their compassion and care shown to Mrs. Blank and the Blank family.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 15th, 2009 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:15 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home with the funeral following at 8:15 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Monday, November 16th, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
