Mr. Carlos Henry Maxfield, age 82, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (June 16, 2015) in a Claypool Hill, Virginia Assisted Living Facility. Born October 9, 1932 in Lee County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Sam and Dora Pennington Maxfield. He was a lifelong resident to the area having worked for Willard Ball Coal Company and Island Creek Coal Company, he was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 2232. He attended Rowe Pentecostal Church but enjoyed attending many other Churches in the area.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Fred Maxfield and George Robert Maxfield.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Laura Harris Maxfield of the home, one son, Ronald K. Maxfield and wife, Judy of Rosedale, Virginia, one sister, Mary Elizabeth Green and husband Darrel of Cumberland, Virginia, one brother, Bernard Maxfield of Honaker, Virginia, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday at the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
The Family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Commonwealth Memory Care and Helping Hands Healthcare and Hospice.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Commonwealth Memory Care.
