Dorothy L. (Matzen) Coffelt was born on Monday; April 5, 1915 in Donahue; Scott County, Iowa. She was the daughter of: Otto & Hilda (Schlotfeldt) Matzen. On September 28, 1940, she was united in marriage to Theodore F. Coffelt in Maquoketa; Jackson County, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1978. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mom & homemaker and a long-time member of the former Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church of Davenport, Iowa. She enjoyed playing cards with her many friends and in earlier years, was an avid bowler. Dorothy L. (Matzen) Coffelt, age 95, passed away on Friday; September 10, 2010 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf; Scott County, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her daughter: Sharon Jaeger of Camarillo, California; her sons: Wayne Coffelt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Michael (Wanda) Coffelt of Elkland, Missouri and Gary (Francet) Coffelt of Saint Louis, Missouri. Her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son-in-law: Don Jaeger; her sister: Elaine Paustian and her brothers: Norman Matzen and Allyn "Pinky" Matzen. May they rest in peace. May God bless her memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the McGinnis~Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday; September 15, 2010 at the McGinnis~Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Interment will be at the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery in Davenport, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
