Mrs. Tom Allen died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Mathews in Cape Girardeau, last Thursday morning, at a little less than 20 years of age. She was buried in the Christian Cemetery in Fredericktown, after funeral services by Rev. Wilkins. On August 7, last, she was married to Tom Allen and lived in Springfield, Missouri until within a few weeks of her death. She patiently endured the trials of a bed of pain and suffering for ten weeks. Of the dead few things can be said that are not to living, painful while they are consolatory. Grief is most easily borne when seldom revived by allusion. To her husband, her parents and in their memory she will ever live as their ideal of a loving, faithful wife and daughter. Her friends will remember her pleasant bearing and beautiful character while the body of the Christian people with which she was identified, will ever value her tireless work in the cause. While the grief of those to whom she was dear is poignant, they turn for comfort, to Him who said, "I go to prepare a place for you."
