Charles "Chuck" Raymond Matson, Sr. passed away April 10, 2016. He was born November 13, 1938 in Port Lavaca to Bernice Neil Matson and the late Raymond Harold Matson.

Chuck was retired from corporate flying Smith Industries, Continental Airlines and completed his flying career as a Mooney Test Pilot. In his spare time he loved skeet shooting and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Rothrock Matson; son, Chuck Matson Jr. and wife Linnea; mother, Bernice Neil Matson; sister, Judy Anderson; grandchildren, Sawyer Lynn Matson and Conner Reece Matson and step-grandson, Ty Hunter Sikes.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church with Father Tommy Chen officiating. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at Garden of Memories in Kerrville.
