Lael Matson Daugherty, 77, a devoted wife and mother, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Monday at Arborlawn United Methodist Church. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Lael was born May 8, 1932, in San Francisco, Calif., to Hays and Doris Matson. They moved to Santa Monica, Calif., when she was 3. She graduated from Santa Monica High School and then worked as a dental technician. She loved her family, especially her granddaughter, who was the apple of her eye. She played golf and cards. She loved to travel. She met her husband in Phoenix, Ariz., in December 1952 and married him in December 1953.
The family would like to thank Dr. Artim, Dr. Chan, the staff at Harris Southwest, the caregivers at James L. West and the staff at Arborlawn United Methodist Church for their support and kindness.
Lael was preceded in death by her father, Hays Matson; mother, Doris Matson; and son, Steven Craig Daugherty.
Survivors: Left in the caring hands of God are her husband, Robert "Doc" Daugherty; son, Rob Daugherty III; sister, Barbara Lewis; daughter-in-law, Moira Gill Daugherty; sisters-in-law, Mary Daugherty and Patricia Daugherty; brothers-in-law, Willis and Charles Daugherty; granddaughter, Aria Vue Daugherty; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
