Edward "Eddie" C. Matson, age 78, of Ransomville, died on Sunday, October 21, 2012 in the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, after a long illness. Eddie was born on May 2, 1934 in Brockway, PA, the son of the late Elton L. and Edith J. (Stitt) Matson.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to his honorable discharge in 1958. On March 16, 1957, he married Marilyn (Tobey) Matson. Eddie was a Brakeman for the Lehigh Valley Railroad and had worked as a Clerk for the New York Central Railroad. For the next 31 years, Eddie was employed by GM Harrison Radiator in Lockport. He retired in 1994 as a Relief Operator in the Core Division.
Eddie was a former member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Lockport as well as a former member of the Eagle Lodge in Lockport. He was a member of the UAW Union #686 Lockport, and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He enjoyed golfing, going to Las Vegas, watching auto racing, bowling, and was an avid Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan. Most of all, Eddie loved spending time with his family which was most important to him.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Brenda (Marty) Walsh of Niagara Falls, NY, Janet (Patrick) Feeley of Newfane, and Steven E. (April) Matson of Ransomville; his grandchildren, Matthew and Carly Matson, Shannon and Cailynn Feeley; a sister, Mildred (late Lamar) Laborde of Gary, IN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was predeceased by six brothers, Clyde, Damon, Ralph, Walter, David, and Bill Matson; four sisters, Marie Pendleton, Edna Johnson, Juanita Snyder, and Irene Lamberson; and his father and mother-in-law, Granville and Millicent Tobey.
Eddie's family fulfilled his wishes by donating his remains to the University of Buffalo Medical School.
