CARLA JEAN HIGGINS -- a woman of faith and courage -- passed away December 17, 2010, in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by her family and friends. Carla was born in Topeka, Kansas, April 26, 1950, daughter of Charles and Barbara Higgins (Waetzig).
She is survived by her mother and three siblings, Cheryl Boling and Charles Higgins of Topeka, and Shelley O'Leary of Grand Junction, CO.
Other family that survives is her step-father, Delbert Heath of Topeka, husband, Brad Mathewson, daughter Jennifer Heruska (Thomas), son Steve Forbes (Debbie), and son Scott Forbes, and nine beautiful grandchildren. All reside in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area.
God used Carla's life in a mighty way. She loved her family and friends deeply and unconditionally. Her dogs and garden gave her great joy. She lived life to the fullest and her enthusiasm for fun was contagious. She was beautiful inside and outFull of grace.
Carla was a highly respected professional in the real estate industry and owned a property management company.
She was honored and recognized for her work in women's issues, mentoring professionals as well as those trying to write a new chapter in their personal lives. She was a strong and fearless lady. Her legacy will touch the future through each of us whose lives she enriched with her love and friendship.
