Lillie's mother was Elsie A. Kelch (Mathews,Snavely). She had been a local resident of 27 years. Her husband died in 1911 and she raised her nine children alone.
SOURCE - OBIT: From the Council Bluffs Nonpareil Newspaper; (of 30 Mar 1948 - pg.#5) Mrs. Lillie Mae Coan 77, 2501 South Thirteenth st., died Monday at a convalescent home after seven weeks illness. She had been a local resident 27 years. Surviving are threee sons, George Coan of Iowa City, William and Lewis of Council Bluffs; six daughters, Mrs. Edna (Hempel) and Fannie (James) of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Elsie (Lee) of Sioux City, Mrs. Maude (Hesser), Mrs Mae (Osborne) and Mrs Nora (Rushton) all of Fort Dodge, IA. Funeral will be Wed. at 2 p.m. at Woodring's chapel, with the Rev. R. F. Howard of Bethany Presbyterian church officiating. Burial in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
