Inlow Mathews and Jeannette Mathews with their children Victoria A. Mathews, (born 1843 AL - died 1929, buried Thomas Cem.), and Roxanna Mathews Lister born 1846 AL - died 1921, buried McRae Cem.), were early pioneers to San Augustine County, Texas, and were living in the county by 1852. This became their home for the rest of their lives.
Inlow and Jeannette Mathews had five children while residing in San Augustine County, Texas: Julia Ann Mathews Childers (born 1852 - died 1914, buried McRae Cem.), William Polk Mathews (born 1854 - died 1938, buried McRae Cem.), Elizabeth Sarah Mathews Sharp born 1859 - died 1928, buried McRae Cem.), Henry Jackson Mathews (born 1861 - died 1938 McRae Cem.), and Inlow Lee Mathews born 1864 - died 1932, buried Thomas Cem., San Aug. Co.).
