Sara Jane Matheson, 81 years old, a long time resident of Craig and Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away June 23, 2011 after a long illness.
Sara was born in Tutwiler, Mississippi where she grew up with her three brothers and two sisters, all who have passed on.
She was the beloved mother of four children, Elaine Powell, of Dallas, TX; Deborah White, of Grand Junction, CO; Clyde Crocker, of Dallas, TX; Stephanie Kopsa, of Craig, CO; five grandchildren, Kevin White of Victoria, TX; James Patin, of Galveston, TX; Wendy Powell, of Kingston, AZ; Kyle Kopsa, of Craig, CO, and Conner Kopsa, of Craig, CO, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Many that knew her will tell you she lived her life to help others, she always was full of laughter and life. Her children were her greatest love, as well as her love of the great outdoors. She also enjoyed tending to her garden.
Sara loved to play pool and was a hunter in her younger years. She was very involved with the VFW, and had a lifetime membership with the Ladies Auxiliary, Post 1247 of Grand Junction.
Sara's ashes will go into Freeman Lake, the family's favorite place in August.
