WESTERVILLE: Mary Louise (Matheny) Arnett, 78, a resident of Summerville at Outlook Manor and formerly of Warsaw, Ohio, died April 2, 2010 at the care center.

She was born July 15, 1931 to the late Alva and Beatrice (Graves) Matheny in Bensenville, Illinios. She grew up in the Bridgeport/West Milford area and graduated from Unidas High School in 1949.

She married William Arnett on September 9, 1949, who preceded her in death in 1983. They moved to Roanoke, Virginia then the Lakeland/Ocala Florida area, and finally to Warsaw, Ohio in 1962. After running an in-home daycare, Mary returned to school and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from The Ohio University in 1973. She taught at the Tri Valley School District for several years until her retirement in 1998, and then was a substitute teacher for River View School District. She was also a member of the Warsaw United Methodist Church, the Warsaw Jr. Sorosis Club and served as a Pink Lady for Coshocton Memorial Hospital.

Mary had a special gift with the children. She spent her teaching years as a reading specialist and also tutored. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. During her retirement, Mary enjoyed going to local sporting events, attending church, and traveling with her special friend, Edwin Lee.

She is survived by her five children, Steven Arnett of Coshocton, Rick (Lisa) Arnett of The Woodlands, Texas, Mick Arnett of Gahanna, Sherri Miller of Reynoldsburg, and Kim (Terry) Foster of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Doris of Shinston, West Virginia; and brother, Clifford of Clarksburg, West Virginia; also survived by eight grandchildren, Amanda, Kate, William, Ryan, William, Stephen, Kristin, and Terry.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings, Raymond, Wilbur, Harold, Margaret, and Nina.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Rev. Ron Little officiating. Interment will follow in Valley View Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, and one hour prior to service time on Wednesday. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
