Mable Massey Anderson, better known as "D," finished her full life on Earth on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011. Born on July 13, 1925, to John and Letha Massey in Winkler. She lived in Spur, where she graduated from high school, with her beloved Aunt Jenny and Uncle Steve. D married the love of her life, Garth T. Anderson, in May of 1948. He preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage. D completed an LVN course at Amarillo College. She was one of the first nurses to work when the Elizabeth Jane Bivins home became a nursing home. She was also one of the first hospice nurses at the then St. Anthony's Hospice. She loved being a nurse but gave it up to devote time to her granddaughters.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Beth; her parents; a sister, Mary of Corsicana; and a brother, H.L. of Lubbock.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Anderson King and husband Joe of Canyon; three granddaughters, Kristin L. Gerber and husband Carson, Kyla L. King and Kayla L. Canales and husband Morgan; she delighted in her first great-granddaughter, Deandra Canales; she has one loving sister, Freddie Finley of Corsicana; two brothers, Harold and Johnny Massey, both of Fairfield; and a whole host of "damn Kings" as she lovingly referred to her son-in-law's extended family; and her faithful dog, Lady.

The family suggests memorials to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176; or the Building Fund at First United Methodist Church, 1818 Fourth Ave., Canyon, TX 79015.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 3, 2011, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana.
