Lois True, 98, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Tommy Needham officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Mrs. True was born in Durant, Okla., to Lela and Fred Massey on June 23, 1911.
She married James Kelly True in 1931, where they resided in Hollis, Okla., until they moved to Borger.
Lois was a homemaker and worked several years in the nursery at Calvary Baptist Church in Borger. She also worked briefly for Johnson's Bakery in Borger. She and Jim moved to Amarillo from Borger in 1966 where Jim worked until he retired from Tri State Baking Co.
Lois was dedicated to her children and took great delight in her grandchildren. She was a softspoken gentle lady who always treated you with great respect and made you feel loved and you knew that you were very special to her. She was an avid reader. She loved to tell stories of her journey in a covered wagon with her mother, sisters and brother as a young child as they crossed from Lampasas back to Durant, Okla. She could entertain you for hours with her stories from her early years. Lois will be dearly missed by her family and friends
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim, on Jan. 11, 1973; three sons, Ronnie, Mickey and Fred True; three grandsons, Ronnie Joe, Rodney and David True; three sisters, Hazel Farrell, Evelyn Hooks and Henrietta Garton; and a brother, Manuel Massey.
Survivors include two sons, James True and wife Doris of Borger and Douglas True and wife Marcella of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
