Cecil Dale Massey, 69, passed away at home Dec. 22, 2011. He was born Sept.19, 1942 to Cecil Hueling and Afton Johnson Massey.

Dale graduated from Uintah High School, served in the United States Army, returned and married Charlotte Martinez June 22, 1966. They later divorced.

He was raised and lived his entire life in Vernal, a place for which he had a deep love and all it had to offer.

Dale worked the majority of his adult life in the oilfield, doing various jobs. He was known for being a hard worker and taking great pride in his work.

He was an enthusiast of many activities including, fishing, pheasant hunting, collecting coins, and metal detecting. Two of his greatest loves were arrowhead hunting and collecting Indian artifacts.

Dale is survived by two daughters YeVette (Ryan) Lloyd and NyRee (Brett) Weldon, four grandchildren, Dylan, Ashton, Kash and Riggs. His father Cecil H. Massey and his sister LaRena (Bill) Caldwell. And many friends who looked in on him on a daily basis.

He is preceded in death by his mother Afton Johnson Massey and his brother Dennis N. Massey. Funeral services were held Dec. 27 at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary with burial in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Blackburn Mortuary.
