Obituary, Florida Times-Union, January 30, 2013
Alice Jean Mason Brownsberger passed away January 26, 2013, surrounded by her family, wrapped in love. She was 86. Alice was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, graduated from Lee High School, and worked for the United States Civil Service at Jacksonville Naval Air Station.

She was married for 64 years to James Albert Brownsberger, who preceded her in death in September 2012. After raising four children, she returned to work in the Civil Service at NAS Jacksonville in the Supply Department for several years.

Alice resided in Orange Park, Florida for over 46 years. She and her family were one of the founding families of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and she was an active member for many years. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fleming Island. Her faith was strong and deep.

She was a long standing member of the Towhee chapter of the Orange Park Garden Club. She established a chapter of the Red Hat Society in Orange Park, affectionately known as 'SOBs' (Silly Old Biddies). She enjoyed playing bridge with the same group of women for over 40 years. She was a gifted artist who loved painting, flower arranging, and various arts & crafts. Her paintings covered the walls of her home and the homes of her children.

She is survived by her three sons: Nicholas (Mary), Gary (Janet), and Daniel (Carol); her daughter Jeannie; her grandchildren: Laura, David, Shelly (Michael), Ashley (Parker), Matthew (Shajira), and Jonathan; her great granddaughter Alexandra; and her brother Lt. Col. Robert G. Mason, USAF Ret. (Ann).

A viewing and rosary (6:00 pm) will be held Friday, February 1 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 2 at 12:30 pm at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Orange Park.
