Portrait of George that hangs in my living room. We also have a letter from the battlefield dated 1862. He died in 1864 from injuries sustained in The Battle of the Wilderness.

memorial obituary for George S. Marvin
The 45th regiment, to which the foregoing belonged, was organized at Harrisburg October 21st 1861. The term of service was three years, but the men re-enlisted as veterans, and were mustered out of service at Alexandria, Va., July 17th 1865. The 45th participated in the engagements at James Island, South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, the siege of Vicksburg, Jackson, Blue Springs, Campbell Station, the siege of Knoxville, Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, North Anna, Petersburg, Weldon Railroad and Poplar Spring Church. George died from injuries sustained in The Wilderness.
