MARTS

Wayne Roscoe Marts, son of Wanda and Ira Marts, was born in Polk City, Iowa, on July 12, 1927 and passed away at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday, April 17, where he had been a patient for a week.

Wayne was a thirty-year employee of the Firestone plant in Des Moines. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Wayne was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Eagles, and the Masons, Paul Revere Lodge No. 638 A.F.& A.M. of Lucas.

On June 17, 1971, Wayne and Mary Ann Bell were united in marriage. They have three sons, Charles Robert, Brett B. and Wayne Lee Marts.

Also surviving besides his wife and three sons are brothers, Roger, Dwight, Ivan and Peter and sisters, Vera and Geraldine and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jack, Dale and Keith and one sister, Helen.

Wayne was a devoted husband and father. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and being in the wooded areas. After retirement, he enjoyed life on the farm with his family and many friends.

He will be sadly missed by his family, neighbors and friends, co-workers at Firestone, and friends of the organizations he belonged to.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 20, at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Pastor Dennis St. Lawrence officiating. Masonic services were held by the Paul Revere Lodge No. 638 A.F.& A.M. and American Legion services were held by the Carl Caviness Post #102 in Chariton. Interment was in the Norwood Cemetery.

Serving as bearers were John Burns, Gerald Allen, Ralph Pollitt, Kenneth Storm, Kenneth Mille and Gerald L. Burns. Serving as honorary bearers were Kenny Baker, Art Goering, Larry Surber, Barry Kinsey, Glen Babcock, George Kinsey, Swede Hamilton, George McAninch and Larry Danielson.
