Ebaristo Martinez known as "Grandpa" by his immediate family was called home by our heavenly Father on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006 at the age of 78.

Ebaristo was born on Oct. 26, 1928 in Wilson, TX to the late Frank Martinez and Jeronima Madrid. On Sept, 20, 1958 he married Erlinda Bitela in Lubbock. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister; three brothers and three sons.

Ebaristo is survived by his wife of 48 years, Erlinda Bitela Martinez; one son, Wilbur Martinez and one daughter, Teresa (David) Torres both of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Crystal Martinez, Michael Torres, Vanessa Martinez, Gilbert Rene Martinez and Gilbert Anthony Martinez; two great-grandchildren, Javan Hambrick and Jassmarie Torres; one brother, Nieves Martinez of Lubbock and one sister, Catarina Martinez Torres of Slaton, TX.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm, tonight at White Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, Woodrow, TX. Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home.
