Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Gabino L. Martinez died June 23, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born June 21, 1930 in El Rito, New Mexico. He married Mary Vigil on May 3, 1956 in El Rito, New Mexico. He was employed by the University of Utah for 24 years before retiring in 1990. He enjoyed fishing, music and dancing, gardening, the Denver Broncos and the Utah Jazz. He loved to play with and tease the grandkids. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Gabino is survived by his wife, Mary; three daughters: Darlene (Dean) Lund, Verna (Raymond) Segura, and Marlene (Simon) Vigil, all of Salt Lake City; three sisters: Lydia (Julio) Alvarez of Santa Ana, California; Perfie (Guzman) Jaramillo and Rosina (Frank) Ortiz, both of El Rito, New Mexico; brother, Donald (Stephanie) Martinez of El Rito, New Mexico; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his father, Gabino Lucero and his mother and stepfather, Margarita and Daniel Martinez. A special thank you to the staff of St. Mark's Hospital for the wonderful care they gave Gabino. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 12:00 Noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 174 East 900 South. A vigil service will be held Wed., at 7 p.m. also at the church, where friends may call from 6-7 p.m. Committal: Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street. Funeral Directors, Neil O'Donnell and Sons..
