Our beloved mother grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Shonita Cordova, died on Sunday June 2, 2002 at her home in West Jordan.

Shonita was a kind and generous woman and we are proud to call her mother. She spent her life giving to us; we are grateful we were able to care for her during her last days.

Shonita was born on May 14, 1917 in Truchas, New Mexico to Domicilia and Celso Martinez. She married Simon in 1935. Together they raised their family in Bingham Canyon and West Jordan, Utah.

Shonita is survived by her children Bernie (Jeanette), Lolo (Virginia), Henry, Sylvia Serrano and Prescilla Miya. She leaves eight grandchildren and six and one half great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Fred (Anita) Martinez and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Simon and her oldest daughter Jean.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday June 6, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker, 7405 South 1700 West, West Jordan. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Rd., West Jordan, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates.

Rest in Peace, Mom.
