Civilian casualty of WWII,Ada lived at 61 Harcombe Road and was killed by enemy action at 157/161 Stoke Newington Road.

She was 20 and the daughter of Edward Charles and Martha Martin, both of whom were killed in the same incident.Ada and her parents had been visiting friends. In 2011 the historical society in Stoke Newington erected a memorial plaque on the site at Coronation Avenue flats, 157-161 Stoke Newington Road. There were three air raid shelters there, which took a direct hit on the night of 13th/14th October, 1941. Around 170 people were killed that night.


Of the many civilians of the Commonwealth whose deaths were due to enemy action in the 1939-1945 War, the names of some 67,092 are commemorated in the Civilian War Dead Roll of Honour, located near St. George's Chapel in Westminster Abbey, London.
