Bessie "Martin" Atkins was the 5th born child of W. S. Martin and Fannie Bell "Thompson" Martin, the 3rd to live past infancy.
Bea married John L. Atkins. Their one attempt to have children is marked by a grave at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Waterloo, Nevada, Arkansas: Infant Atkins - 1940
John and Bea were staunch members of the Missionary Baptist Church in Rosston, Nevada, Arkansas. Their lives outside of church reflected their Christian principles.
The Martin family always gathered on Christmas Eve for a yearly reunion. Alcohol and a poker game were staples of the get-together, yet John and Bea never participated in either, though John would sit with the men at the poker table and socialize.
Their farm/ranch near Rosston on Hwy 19 South was named Peaceful Valley.
