Birth: Mar. 12, 1917
Death: Oct. 8, 1985

Ruby Dale was born in Nocona, Texas and her father was Joe Martin and wife Ester Lois Adkins Martin. Wife of Joel Loniel Brickey and mother to Barbara Brickey Lee, Patsy Johnston and Jimmy Glenn Brickey. She and Loyn were married in 1935 in Nocona, Texas, and had celebrated 50 years together before Ruby Dale passed away,
Ruby Dale and Loyn lived in Lordsburg for many years moving to Lordsburg sometime after about 1944 when Loyn was discharged from the Army.

There are those who remember her well from when she babysat with them, and for the quilts she made for family and friends and extra money....she was well loved and is missed!

During our childhood years and beyond, Ruby always greeted us with "Give me my hug!" (a really big hug) and a sugar smack on the cheek. She would sometimes put curls in our hair with "bobby pin curls".
Her pinto beans were a really big hit during the times we had our potluck dinners. We could always count on Aunt Ruby to gently remove a sticker for us. She was stern, but gentle and loving.
A funny story about Ruby is when her mother in law, Nora Brickey and she were both at the Ft. Bayard hospital. She would always go from her room to Nora's to visit (they were very close) and until the nurses figured that out, it sent them into a panic...Ruby was missing! They got used to the idea and from then on, they would go find her visiting with Nora.
Ruby Dale had spent time there at Ft. Bayard Hospital after being hit by a car while walking home from the store, and later on suffered a stroke. Ruby never learned to drive a car.
When Nora passed in 1984 she missed her so very much. She lived just a few houses away from Nora and she spent a lot of time with her. Ruby lived almost, but not quite, a year after Nora passed.
