Helen was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 15, 1916 to George D. Martin and Adolpha Standlee Martin. Helen was raised in Tulsa and was a high school graduate. She and Jack Anderson were united in marriage on May 27, 1937 and lived in Illinois. They returned to the family farm just south of Kiowa in Oklahoma then moved to the Olson farm NW of Kiowa in 1956. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and the Sew ‘N Sew Club, and a 65 year member of the Order of The Eastern Star Chapter 39 of Medicine Lodgey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; one daughter, Margaret Sue Spriggs; two brothers, Charlie Martin and Clarence Martin; three sisters, Edith Bearden, Mary Odell, Alliene VanHeeren.
She is survived by one son; Alfred Anderson of Tucson, Arizona; son-in-law, Leon Spriggs of Kiowa; four grandchildren, Marty Anderson, Chad Anderson, Kirk Spriggs, Carrie Boyles; eight great grandchildren, Katie Anderson, Charley Jack and Riley Anderson, Cole and Connor Spriggs, Abby, Preston, and Sam Boyles; one sister, Beulah Trebilcock of Blackfoot, Idaho.
Memorials may be made to the Congregational United Church of Christ and sent to Lanman Funeral Home P.O. Box 42 Kiowa, Ks. 67070.
