Mrs. Doris M. Davis, 82, of Waycross died early Sunday morning at Mayo Clinic Health Systems of Waycross. She was born in Screven, Georgia to the late Herschel Martin and Laura Knight Martin. After leaving Screven, she moved to Offerman, Georgia, until settling in Waycross for the majority of her life. She worked many years for Harvey’s Grocery Stores until she started work giving care as a private sitter. Mrs. Davis was a member of Brunel Street Church of God. She was an avid gardener who loved more than anything to be in her yard working with her flowers. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Davis, three sons, Drew Davis, Herbie Davis, Steve Davis, and two sisters, Aldean Griffin and Joyce O’Berry.

Mrs. Davis is survived by two daughters, Sandra Davis of Waycross, Teresa Rowe and her husband Johnny of Townsend, Georgia, nine grandchildren, Jena Davis, Brentson Wright, Shelby Cottle, Phillip Davis and his wife Kim, Susann Steedley and her husband Jason, Jamie Davis, Jennifer Dixon and her husband Derek, Amy Miller and her husband Keith, Michael Rowe and his wife Robin, fifteen great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, her favorite dogs, Boss and Sassy and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
