He was a 1935 graduate of Dickinson High School in Jersey City and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran having served in the European Theater and was the circulation manager for the Stars and Stripes Newspaper. He served as commander of Phoebe Apperson Hearst Post of American Legion in the early 1960's. Worked for the Journal American from 1945-1962 and then became the New York Times Director of Circulation from 1962-1985. Upon retirement he moved to Palm Coast, Fla. until recently moving to Fredericksburg, Virginia.
