Leo Marion "Marion" Martin, died Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Nebraska Veteran's Home, Grand Island, Nebraska. Leo M. Martin was born July 2, 1932 in Red Fern Table, Nebraska to James Alfred "Leo" and Tillie Agnes (Mason) Martin.
Leo attend school until the eighth grade when he was needed at the farm. In July of 1953, Leo enlisted in the United States Army. He was Honorably discharged in July 1956. Leo worked as a service technician and later a service manager for Goodyear, Kearney, Nebraska. He also worked at Countryside Homes, Columbus, Nebraska and most recently as an Over the Road Truck driver. Following his retirement, Leo enjoyed working on small engines and herding sheep on his daughter's ranch. He was know for his ability to fix anything.
Leo is survived by: daughter, Patricia McNeel and husband, Ed of Wellfleet, Nebraska; son, David Martin and wife, Karen of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter, Sandra Wieser and husband, Bill of Harlan, Iowa; son, Edward Martin and wife, Jayne of Lee Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Leslie Bentz, Sarah McNeel, Zachary Martin, Laura Kitzelman, Erin Simpson, Ameila Galbraith, Hannah Wieser, Acacia Park, Aubrey Martin, Avery Martin; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Floyd Martin of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dale Martin and wife, Vonnie of Elm Creek, Nebraska; sisters, Lillian Greeley and husband, Dean of Texas, Martha Snyder and husband, Dick of Hyannis, Nebraska, Joyce Nielson and husband, Chuck and a host of relatives and friends.
Leo was preceded in death by: parents and grandson, Ryan Wieser.
Interment was in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska. Military Honors will be provided by North Platte (NE.) Honors Team in conjunction with the Nebraska National Guard.
