Milburn A. Martin, 89, of Martin, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Martin were held Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery. Larry Reagan officiated the services.
Mr. Martin was a custodian for the U.S. Postal Service in Dresden. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in WWII and the Korean War. He was a Methodist by faith and a member of Martin City Lodge. Mr. Martin was born February 23, 1918 in Weakley County to the late Sidney Martin and Inez Oldham Martin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Adams Martin; a brother; and a sister.
Mr. Martin is survived by a stepson, Dannie H. Scates of Maryville, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Martha Stow of Latham, and Mary Sue Hopper of Martin; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
NOTE: by Mary Ann Vowell Rea - Mr. Martin's first marriage was to my aunt, Gladys Novella Vowell, on December 23, 1936.
