Ms. Delphia Lee Marshall Bowman, 60, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Ms. Bowman was born March 25, 1949, in Patrick County, VA, to Granville Lee Marshall and Ota Virginia Puckett Marshall Sumner. She retired from Renfro Corporation and was a member of Doe Run Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Robert Bullins of Mount Airy; a son, Sammy Bowman and "special friend" Lisa Watkins of the home; three grandchildren, Dustin Lovill, Corbin Bullins, and Kirsten Bowman; a sister, Ruth Marshall of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law, Annie Marshall of Ararat, VA; a brother-in-law, Temple Bowman of Ararat, VA; her step-father, Eddie Sumner of Mooresville; and "special family", Gladys Boyd, Jerry Bowman, Ann Hall, Eddie Lovill, Frances and Weldon Tobler, Ann Cockerham and Dianne and David Lawson. In addition to her parents, Ms. Bowman was preceded in death by three sisters, Clara Bowman, Leatrice Puckett, and Uniter Bowman; and two brothers, Avery Marshall and Vernie Marshall. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Terry Vaughan and the Rev. Robbie Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in the Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home, and Saturday after the interment at 859 Doe Run Road in Ararat, VA. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
