REBECCA BAYLOR
1935 - 2011

Rebecca "Becky" Marshall Baylor, oldest daughter of Lanan Jackson Marshall (deceased) and Frances Pauline Peters (deceased) of Huntington, West Virginia, was born on April 19, 1935, in Beckley, West Virginia and died on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at the age of 75 after battling Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

Becky was the head majorette during her high school years at Huntington East as well as the valedictorian of her class. She went on to attend Marshall University where she achieved a Master's degree in Art and Education. She taught art for many years at Beverly Hills Junior High School in Huntington, West Virginia. Becky was an accomplished artist and enjoyed teaching art through her community center. A scholarship in her name was established at Marshall University. Becky was an avid collector of antiques, and she created a successful business partnership called My Sister's Antiques with her two sisters. She enjoyed playing tennis with friends and was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. Her favorite activity was playing Chinese Checkers with her family.

Becky was the oldest sibling to Ann Marshall Egnor (deceased) who was married to Mr. L.D. Egnor, Huntington, West Virginia and to Jane Marshall Workman who is married to Gary Workman of Joppa, Maryland.

Becky is survived by her husband of 52 years Major General James B. Baylor, her son Bryan Baylor, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and his wife Emily, her daughter Amy Shannon, Strongsville, Ohio and her husband Brian, her daughter Sara Kaiser, Strongsville, Ohio and her husband Jim, and her son Chris Baylor, Gunnison, Colorado. Becky's grandchildren are Parker Shannon, Cameron Shannon, Gavin Kaiser, Mason Kaiser, Landon Kaiser and Emerson Baylor. Becky was a vibrant, loving, generous and warm-hearted person.

Those who had the privilege of meeting Becky will remember her ability to make you feel welcome and her love of family. She was the rock of the family - the one you came to for help when you had a problem and the glue that held the family together. Becky was a strong woman and her support and encouragement helped her husband Jim have dual careers as Senior Vice President of Valvoline Oil, Inc. and two-star General in the Army Reserve.

A visitation will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 5, 2011, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The funeral service will also be held in the chapel at Centenary United Methodist Church located at 2800 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, Kentucky, 40502 immediately following the visitation. Becky is to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
