STOKESDALE - Mr. David Henley Marshall, 63, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Marshall's funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, at Stokesdale United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
A Guilford County native, Mr. Marshall was born on November 8, 1949, the son of James Levi and Flora Adcock Marshall. He was a member of Stokesdale United Methodist Church, employed by Delta Dental of Virginia, and a graduate of Western Carolina University, Class of 1972. David was an accomplished saxophone player and music lover. He also enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.
Surviving are his mother Flora A. Marshall of Stokesdale; children Scott Marshall and his wife, Suzanne, of Indian Trail, NC, Amanda Richardson and her husband, Thomas, of Winterville, NC, and Jennifer McLean and her husband, Matthew, of Salem, Va.; brother James Marshall and his wife, Karen, of Simpsonville, SC; sisters Carolyn Williams Smith and her husband, Gary, Cindy Byrne and her husband, Hank, and Jean Attaway all of Stokesdale, and Janice Bevels and her husband, Steve, of Suwanee, Ga.; nine grandchildren Taylor Elslager, Ciara Marshall, Leah Marshall, Ally Roland, Jasper McLean, Julia McLean, Joseph McLean, Andrew Richardson and Mallory Richardson.
