Norma Jean Marshall Moser Koontz, age 80, of 500 Mountain Top Dr., Asheboro died on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Randolph Hospital with her family at her bedside.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3611 Liberty Rd., Greensboro with Charles Moses officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the church and other times at Clapp's Mountain Top Residential Apartments, 450 Mountain Top Dr., Apt. 209, Asheboro.

Mrs. Koontz was born in Surry County, NC and was a graduate of White Plains High School. Norma was employed with Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Company for 5 years before starting her family. She attended Moriah United Methodist Church in Greensboro and was preceded in death by her husbands, Lee Wyatt Moser, formerly of Pleasant Garden, and James Koontz, formerly of Welcome. She was a wonderful mother (Maw Maw), grandma, aunt, sister and friend to many. Norma was especially proud of her grandchildren and her two great grandchildren.

Norma never let her blindness get her down or limit her in any way. She loved to dance, play Bridge and Rook with her siblings and their spouses. She also was a member of a Wednesday Morning Bowling League, a monthly Bridge Club, and Parents without Partners, where she met many lifelong friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Webster and her husband Wes of Denton, NC; son, Richard Moser of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Chris Boroughs of Asheboro, NC, Curt Boroughs and his wife Laura of Apex, NC, Meredith Webster of Chapel Hill, NC, Lee Wyatt Moser II of Boston, MA, great grandchildren, Carley Reese Boroughs and Collin Reid Boroughs both of Apex, NC; sisters, Polly Key of Asheboro, NC, Peggy Stanley of Winston-Salem, NC, Libby Clapp of Asheboro, NC; brother, Robert F. Marshall of Asheboro, NC; and many nieces and nephews. Norma will be greatly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Junction Gang Camp for disabled children, 4500 Adams Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
