High Point - Mrs. Ethel Marshall Burge, 89, a former resident of Archdale, died at 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 24, 1999, at Wesleyan Arms after several years of declining health. She was born April 19, 1910, in Forsyth County, a daughter of Vick and Anna Boles Marshall. She had lived most of her life in the Archdale-Trinity area and was a partner in Burge Florist of Asheboro for 40 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Archdale United Methodist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and choir member.
On Jan. 1, 1929, she was married to Roy Oliver Burge who preceded her in death on June 16, 1977. A daughter, India Burge Mackintosh, preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1992. She was also preceded in death by a brother and three sisters. Surviving are a grandson, Charles Gideon Mackintosh and his wife, Diana, of Trinity; four sisters, Mrs. Alma Morgan and Mrs. Gladys Carroll, both of Walnut Cove, Mrs. Lorraine Bowman of Germanton and Mrs. Margaret Culpepper of Gibsonville; numerous nieces and nephews; and three great-grandchildren, Jessica K. Sekulich of High Point, Adam Mackintosh of San Antonio, Texas, and Noah Mackintosh of Trinity.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Eastchester Drive, by her grandson, Charles Gideon Mackintosh. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service.
