Gaylord E. Marshall, 95 September 12, 2010 DAYTON -- Gaylord Eugene Marshall, 95, of Dayton, died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community. He was born on Jan. 28, 1915, in Dupont, and was the son of the late Robert and Mary Marshall. He graduated from Dayton High School in 1933. On Jan. 24, 1943, he married Rosemary Peters. She died April 20 1998. Mr. Marshall retired from Mobil Oil after 40 years as a bulk plant agent. He served as a master sergeant in the Army's 18th Battalion 687th Artillery in World War II and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Bronze Star. Mr. Marshall was a member of Dayton United Methodist Church, where he was on several committees and was a member of the choir. He also was a member of the Masons and Knights of Pythias and enjoyed gardening, bowling, the Chicago Cubs, Purdue Boilermakers and reading his Bible. Surviving are two daughters, Pamela A. Boas (husband: Mike) of Dayton and Cynthia J. Findlay of Lafayette; two sons, Gaylord Eugene Marshall II (wife: Jeanie) of Lafayette and Jeffrey J. Marshall (wife: Gail) of Elkhart; and a brother Robert Marshall (wife: Ann) of Louisville, Ky. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Marshall; and 3 sisters, Virginia Daughtery, Lucille Adams and Dorothy Bowers. Visitation will be 4 p.m. To 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at Dayton United Methodist Church and again 1 hour prior to the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. On Tuesday, Sept.14, 2010, at Dayton United Methodist Church, the Rev. Michael Dominick officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to the Dayton United Methodist Church, PO Box 40, Dayton, IN 47941.
