Hattie Mae Marsh was born 22 Nov 1864 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana; daughter of Peter F. and Mary Catherine (Swain) Marsh.

Hattie was united in marriage 20 Nov 1881 in LaGrange County, Indiana with George Washington Clester; one of ten children born to William and Ellen (Gibson) Clester.

Hattie and George moved westward with several of George's siblings. They settled for a few years in the Belle Plaine, Sumner County, Kansas area in southern Kansas before moving on to Oregon.

Hattie and George were the parents of nine children:

1. Guy Franklin born 1882 married Dora M. Brackett
2. Ellsworth born 1885 married Ethel M. Longwell
3. Tracy Millard born 1887 married Roxanna Virginia White
4. Charles Arthur born 1890 married Carrie G. Howland
5. Bessie May born 1894 married Alfred Arthur Thiel
6. Helen E. born 1895 married (#1) Lester Sylvester Rivers and (#2) __ Stevens
7. George Vernon born 1898 married Amy Elnora Shaw. George later changed his name to Joseph H. Baker and married Freda Elizabeth Buchanan.
8. Oprha Clestia born 1901 married __ Sheppard
9. Hallie "Hal" Ray born 1903 married (#1) Lovera Millicent Hoodenpyle and (#2) Ethel Mary Archibald

George passed away 21 Feb 1913 in Soda Springs, Clackamas County, Oregon at the age of 56 years. He was laid to rest in Forrester Cemetery in Eagle Creek, Clackamas, Oregon.

Hattie passed away 20 Jan 1933 in Clackamas County at the age of 68 years. She was laid to rest in Forrester Cemetery with George.
