Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Slater Funeral Home in Trenton. Brother Richard Key, pastor of the Dockery Chapel United Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Trenton. Military graveside services will be conducted by Joseph L. Newton Post #919, VFW.
A family visitation is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the funeral home.
Mr. Marrs was born Dec. 31, 1921 in Trenton, the son of Everett and Mattie Kent Marrs. He attended Trenton schools and graduated from Trenton High School. He was employed by Trenton Foods until his retirement. He moved to Columbia in 1990.
Mr. Marrs was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Marrs is survived by one daughter, Frankie Marrs of the home; two sons, Lee Marrs and Paul Gingerich of Grand Rapids, MI., six grandchildren; an ex-wife Trudy Renn of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. Clifford (Pearl) Vandevender of Trenton; and one brother, Harold Marrs of Brookfield.
Mr. Marrs was preceded in death by five brothers, Wilford, Leslie, Carl, Lawrence and Omer Marrs; and one sister, Mrs. Cepha Bonca.
