Rose Marie Marley (1939 - 2013)

Rose Marley, 73, crossed the bar to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at home. Rose was born on December 16, 1939, in Desoto, Mo., to Thomas and Ada Johnson. She was a 25 year resident of Ventura County, moving here from Canoga Park.

Rose was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, sew and work in the garden. She retired from the United States Air Force in 1988. Rose loved the ocean and was a long standing member of the yachting community. She was Commodore of the Navy Yacht Club in 1993, Commodore of the Association of Santa Barbara Channel Yacht Clubs in 1994, and a member of the International Order of the Blue Gavel and the Anacapa Yacht Club. She also belonged to the 146th Alumni Association.

She is survived by her husband, William Marley; brother, Thomas Johnson (Betty) of Elkland, Mo.; daughter, Tammy Flanders (David) of Kasilof, Alaska; daughter, Wendy Goldberg of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughter, Tina Goldberg of Oxnard; daughter, Cathy Currie (Steven) of New Waterford, Nova Scotia; son, Christopher Goldberg (Patti) of Branson, Mo.; son, Brandon Marley (Karla) of Albuquerqe, N.M. Rose is also survived by her grandchildren: Nicky, Katherine, Timmy, Robby, and Kenny Flanders of Kasilof, Alaska; Tamaha and Brytin Rhedemeister of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Victoria and Colton Abraham of New Waterford, Nova Scotia; September Goldberg, of Oxnard; Keith and Jeremy Goldberg, of Branson, Mo.; and Ethan Goldberg of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Her passing will leave a great void in the lives of those that loved her. Rose wanted to be cremated and her ashes spread at sea with plenty of flowers. "And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For though from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar." Alfred Lord Tennyson, 1889

A memorial service and reception for Rose is being planned for the future. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Condolences may be left at
