Ernestine LeEtta Brown Marks, 76, West Lafayette, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1994, in St Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. She was born Feb. 16, 1917 in Topeka, KS. On Nov. 15, 1941 she was married to Samuel M. Marks who survives. Mrs Marks was an executive and former national president with Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity. She graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1934 and earned a bachelors degree in home economics from Purdue University in 1939. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, West Lafayette and the Mary Martha Circle of the church. A charter member of West Lafayette Sagamore Lioness Club, she also belonged to the Lafayette Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta Quest Club, St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center Auxiliary and Purdue Womens Club. Mrs. Marks was listed in the "Who's Who in American Women", eighth edition; "World Who's Who of Women", second edition; "Who's Who in the Midwest", 15th edition; and was a recipient of the Edna Eperson Brinkman Award. Also surviving are one son, Samuel Milton Marks, Jr., Winamac; and one brother, Melvin D. Brown, Tucson, AZ. Services will be held at 10 AM Friday in Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 N. Ninth, with the Rev. Peggy Alter Good officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Tippecanoe County Heart Fund and Tippecanoe County Cancer Society.
