Davida Markowitz, 92, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Friday, February 22, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue, with burial to follow at Sheffield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to BIAV Synagogue, Kehilath Israel Synagogue or a charity of one's choice. Mrs. Markowitz was born September 11, 1920, in Ft. Worth, TX, the daughter of Samuel and Minna Shosid. She and her late husband, Samuel, owned Ambassador Drugs, in mid-town Kansas City from the late 1940s until the mid 1950s. Mrs. Markowitz then worked for the IRS. for over 20 years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of Beth Israel Abraham & Voliner Synagogue and Kehilath Israel Synagogue. Mrs. Markowitz was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 38 years, Samuel Markowitz who died in 1978. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Joel and Susan Markowitz, Oakland, CA; daughter and son-in-law: Marcia Thomas and Jack Katchmarik, Kansas City, MO; sister: Claranne Sankary, Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren: Aaron Thomas (Shelby), James Thomas (Afton), Sarah Markowitz and Adam Markowitz; great-grandchildren: Davis, Reagan & Shiloh Thomas, and Olive Thomas.
