Mrs. Charles Dyke, Lifelong Resident, Died Monday Eve
Funeral Services for Pioneer Citizen of City Slated Today

Mrs. Charles L. Dyke, 75, a lifelong resident of Orange City, died Monday evening at Methodist Hospital, Sioux City. She had entered the hospital May 18.

Funeral services are today, Thursday, May 27, at 2 p.m. in the American Reformed church with Rev. J. A. Veldman and Rev. B. D. Dykstra conducting the services.

Gertrude Maris was born near Orange City, October 23, 1873, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Maris, pioneer residents. She attended public school in Orange City.

In 1897 she was united in marriage to Charles L. Dyke. They lived in Hospers for one year and then moved to Orange City where they have lived since, with the exception of six years spent in Iowa City.

She was a member of the American Reformed church and the Ladies Aid Society. She was also a charter member of the Orange City Ramblers, who are celebrating their fiftieth anniversary this year, and of the Orange City Woman's Club.

Surviving are the husband and three children, Dr. Lester M. Dyke, Director of Health Services at the University of Illinois, Mrs. James H. Treneman of Newport, Wash., and Mrs. Wayland K. Hicks of Sioux City. There are also nine grandsons and one great granddaughter.

One son, Dr. Cornelius G. Dyke of the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, died eleven years ago.

Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. William Vander Wilt of Marshall, Minn., Dr. Gerrit Maris of Sioux City, Mrs. John Eerkes of Orange City, Dr. William Maris of Sioux Center, Hubert Maris of Sheldon, Mrs. L. Draayom of Sheldon, Mrs. Gerrit Draayom of Sioux City and Arie Maris of Greeley, Colo.

One sister, Mrs. Herman Vander Wilt of Sioux Center and one brother, John Maris of Bellflower Calif, preceded her in death.
