"MRS. ELLA M. BARNES DIES AT HER HOME MONDAY MORNING – Aged woman with many friends expires of heart failure.
The passing of an old and agreeable neighbor, a friend to all in the community for eighteen years, is noted in the death early Monday morning of Mrs. Ella M. Barnes, of heart failure at her home after but a few hours illness. Although in her 73rd year the deceased has been active, except for an occasional season of illness, and was caring for her usual home duties to the end. The funeral will be held from the Methodist Church where she has served so long this Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with services by Rev. Nelson Pierce and interment in the Masonic cemetery.
The deceased was born at Marietta, Ohio, October, 1852, and most of her life was spent in the East. She came to Shelton with her daughter in 1907 following the decease of her first husband, Mr. Pannenburg, and some years later was married to the old veteran, George F. Barnes, who preceded her. Her home has been continued in Shelton except for short visits away. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Euretta Callnan of Sacramento, who reached Shelton Wednesday evening to arrange for the funeral. Rev. H. P. Cochrane, who recently returned from Burmah (sic Burma), is a brother-in-law, now in the East, but will be represented by his son Henry of Bremerton.
The funeral will be conducted under auspices of the Eastern Star. Members are requested to meet at the hall at 1 p. m."
