Final Rites for Mrs. Molly Baker
Funeral services were held Monday morning for one of Chickasaw County's oldest life-long residents, Mrs. Molly Marion Baker, 87, who died Sunday morning in the home of her grandson, Baker Marion, and Mrs. Marion. The services were conducted by the Rev. W F Patch, Presbyterian minister, in historic old Friendship church, of which Mrs. Baker was a pioneer member.
With the exception of a few years spent in Houston, Mrs. Baker spent her entire life near Van Vleet. She was the widow of Mr. S I Baker, prominet planter of that community. Her only son, Walker Baker, died about ten months ago. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Wiley Marion, of Van Vleet, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. All of these were present at the funeral.
Per Chickasaw Co., Mississippi Marriage Records, S I Baker and M E Marion were married on Sept. 7 1869.
