Dorothy Swanson was born Nov. 17, 1912, the daughter of Charles and Hattie Berggren Swanson, in Larimore, where she grew up and attended school. She married Clifford Nielsen July 25, 1936, in Larimore, and they farmed near there, Clifford Nielsen died in 1938. She married Adolph Marien June 2, 1946, in Larimore, and they farmed near there until moving to Bemidji in 1952. They moved to Chandler in 1960. Adolph Marien died in 1967. She worked in the kitchen of a Chandler hospital, then moved to Page.
