Yves M. Marcoux September 11, 1957 - February 19, 2008 POMFRET CENTER - Yves M. Marcoux, 50, of Taft Pond Road died unexpectedly on Tuesday in Putnam. He was the beloved husband of Sylvia (Dube) Marcoux, who survives him. They were married on Oct. 10, 1981 at St. James Church in Danielson. Born in Thetford Mines, P.Q., Canada on Sept. 11, 1957, he was the beloved son of Annette (Bernier) Marcoux of Norwich and the late Jean-Luc Marcoux. Yves, who was one of four sons, blessed his mother with two granddaughters. Mr. Marcoux moved with his family from Canada to CT, when he was two years old. His first language was French, which he still spoke fluently to this day. He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1976. In his earlier years, he worked with his father in the family-owned business, L&M Auto Body of Plainfield. He also worked for a time at the Plainfield Dog Track and at Glass Containers in Dayville. His final employment up until the time of his death was for the State of Connecticut, Dept. of Transportation for over twenty-one years, starting as a mechanic, working his way up to crew leader, garage supervisor and his last position as a Transportation Repair Assistant Supervisor in Newington, CT, in which he took great pride. He was a highly skilled and master mechanic. Mr. Marcoux enjoyed family trips to Maine and Cape Cod, being near the water on his boat and attending boat shows. He also enjoyed fishing, drag racing and attending car shows, with his buddy Dick Doucette. He also had an interest in antique cars and cars in general, Mustangs, and especially his 2004 Competition Orange Mach I Mustang. Mr. Marcoux also enjoyed golf and was an avid Red Sox fan. He was a communicant of St. James Church in Danielson and Most Holy Trinity Church in Pomfret. Besides his wife and mother, he leaves his two beloved daughters, Nicole and Michelle Marcoux, his biggest pride and joy; his mother-in-law, Pauline Dube, wife of the late Jean-Paul Dube of Danielson; three brothers, Richard Marcoux of Moosup, CT, Charles Marcoux of Danielson, CT, and Russell Marcoux of Norwich, CT; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Richard Blake of Plainfield, CT, Peter and Linda Dube of Canterbury, CT and Bruno and Kimberly Dube of South Killingly, CT; goddaughters, Kimberly Fortin and Makala Dube; godsons, Nicholas, Blake and Chad Whitehead; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from Plainfield and Canada; four nephews, two nieces and many dear, dear friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, the late Arthur and Yvonne Marcoux, and his maternal grandparents, the late Adelard and Corana Bernier; and a brother-in-law the late Donald Dube. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Church, Danielson. Burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson.
